Merlin's tower, RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2004, Silver-gilt award
I designed and built Merlin’s dark, magical and mysterious tower which was a main feature in this Chelsea Flower Show garden. The tower was 5 metres tall and built from Scottish blue whin stone. The solid oak door was decorated with a pictorial map of Merlin's realm on slices of elm burr.
The mythical dragon hinges were hand made by a blacksmith. The glass balls were handblown by a glass artist. The inside of the tower I decorated with feathers, herbs and other artefacts giving the small room a magical feel.
