Medieval ruin, Ulriksdals Arts & Crafts Garden, Kivik
I was commissioned to design and build a medieval-style ruin in the park of Ulriksdal in Kivik. This garden was created over 100 years ago in the English Arts & Crafts style. It is currently being renovated by its new owner who wants to give it a magical touch, influenced by books like The Secret Garden and the Narnia series.
I designed and built the ruin working closely with the client using local stone and reclaimed brick. A small brook runs through the site and the place for the ruin was carefully chosen next to it. It melted into the environment almost immediately and looks as if it has always been there.
